Porcelain: porcelain is a glass. For them to be done it is necessary to have a cast of your mouth. Its hardening process is through heat, approx. 2.370oF. This makes porcelain less porous than composite, so it won’t stain. Porcelain is harder, has superior optical properties. As its process is made out of the mouth (indirect), they can guarantee a better fit.
How long will it last?: has an average life of 12 years.
This will depend on the initial condition like position and tooth color. For example if a tooth is over the adjacent it will be necessary to shave that part. Other situation can be if there is one discolored tooth, we should shave it to gain more thickness to opaque the undesired color. Additionally our recommendation for porcelain veneers is to shave 0.3 mm (this is the usual thickness of porcelain veneers) in the part where the veneer will contact the gum, so we can avoid an over contour that can generate gum inflammation.
Color is up to you, composite and porcelain comes in stock colors which you can choose with the shade guide and the virtual prediction. Final color will be the sumatory of the substratum and the chosen material.
